Safe and Secure

Keeping your child safe and well is our top priority at Llanover Day Nursery. When we asked parents what makes us a good nursery, a safe environment was one of the most popular answers. We have established systems to ensure that the nursery runs smoothly, children are safe and secure inside and outside, and parents can relax knowing that their child is in our care.

Some of the ways we ensure your child's safety and security include:

-A secure nursery building with entrances/exits locked throughout the day. Parental access at pick-up/drop-off via our main gate only, monitored closely by a member of staff.

-Passwords. If another family member will be collecting your child, they must know the unique password, set by you, before we will allow access. We also need advance permission from you before this can happen.

-Full criminal record checks completed for every member of staff when they join us, and updated annually.

-Toys and equipment regularly tested to ensure that they are age-appropriate and in good working order.

-Medical training for staff and plans posted in every room on how to care for children with specific medical needs or allergies. We also have procedures for safely administering medicines and guidance on when children can and cannot attend nursery due to illness.

-Regular fire drills and fire evacuation plans posted in every room.

-Correct staff ratios ensure that there is at least one adult for every 3 babies, 4 toddlers or 6-8 pre-schoolers. In addition to this, there is always at least one extra member of staff on site each day.

-Security lights outside at main entrance/exit.

-Regular staff training and risk assessments completed for all new activities.

     - Thorough daily cleaning schedules that ensure all of our equipment is regularly cleaned and sanitised.

In addition to this, our health and safety and food preparation are monitored by Environmental Health in regular inspections. We are proud to hold a level 5 rating, the highest you can achieve.

The CSSIW (inspectorate for care and social services in Wales) also inspects our facilities annually, and part of this includes monitoring our safeguarding procedures, safety of equipment and building security.

If you have any questions about our safety measures, please do get in touch.
